Building Panosome’s culture, conversation by conversation

At Panosome, we believe that advancing transformation in the biotech industry relies not just on scientific innovations but also a strong organizational culture.

At Panosome, we believe that advancing transformation in the biotech industry relies not just on scientific innovations but also a strong organizational culture.

That is why our team took a pause on running experiments and strategy planning, and set aside time to participate in a team-building workshop hosted by VORSPRUNGatwork Partner Susanne Janeba, PhD. Anastasia Gkeka, PhD, Panosome’s Team Leader for Antibody Identification and Profiling, also played a substantial role in assisting and supporting the workshop, which took place last [insert date here].

Being a company-wide event, it was critical for the workshop to first establish a space that was open and reflective, recognizing both personal and professional diversity as well as empowering each individual to share their needs, expectations, and experiences. Moreover, leads Janeba and Gkeka worked together to situate each activity within the biotech context.

That meant taking into consideration the complexity of working in a fast-paced and highly competitive scientific industry, including how external expectations and circumstances inevitably influence both organizational and individual goals and development plans. Panosome’s core values of responsibility, trust, bravery, respect, and initiative were also emphasized.

As such, the workshop flow was well-structured around thoughtful prompts that encouraged the team to look beyond day-to-day activities and instead focus on the dynamics that shape broader collaborative relations. Each member of the team participated with equal openness, curiosity, and enthusiasm to help build the organizational culture, one purposeful conversation at a time.

Our key discussion points:

  • We talked openly about how we communicate, especially when navigating difficult conversations.
  • We shared what matters to us in our work and what we expect from one another.
  • We unpacked how different ways of thinking and diverse perspectives shape the way we solve problems together.

To truly move forward, together, this team-building workshop showed the importance of company alignment and strong trust. It served as an active reminder that culture-shaping activities are intentional and essential aspects of organizational development, not mere afterthoughts. Indeed, for Panosome, how the team works together is just as critical as any breakthrough.

About Panosome:

Based in Heidelberg, Germany, Panosome is a biotech startup with a novel, proprietary platform to generate high-affinity antibodies against previously inaccessible targets. This VAST platform transforms the naturally immunogenic surface of African trypanosomes into an effective disease-fighting strategy, opening new opportunities for clinical impact in therapeutic areas often missed by conventional antibody discovery technologies.
